Residence Life will undergo significant changes next year including the induction of a new residence hall, new professional staff position and new RA position. Biggest among the changes is the creation of an assistant director of residence life position, which will be filled by Jessica Joanis, currently the hall director for Johnson and Tri-Dorms.

A fight between students last weekend in Brockway Hall gained extra attention after a video recording of the incident appeared on YouTube. The video, which showed a fight between sophomore Alec Augustine-Marceil and junior Danny Murphy, highlighted some students' concerns about several of the potential negative effects of social websites.
Students from Fisk University in Nashville, Tenn., will be arriving at Ripon College for a conference with the theme Cultural Identity Wednesday, March 21. All students, faculty and staff are encouraged to go to this conference, which is run by the students in the one credit pass-fail Fisk class here on campus.

"The senior class gift this year will be furnishing the courtyard outside the senior apartments," says Fundraising Officer senior Chris Reed-Waddell. "In exchange our senior class will get to name the senior courtyard.
Students interested in Hispanic culture and language have recently created a new group known as the Fuerza Alliance. This club is designed to educate students about Latino cultures and to provide services to the Spanish-speaking community of Ripon. The group has already begun its meetings and activities.
Streptococcal pharyngitis, also known as strep throat, is at the top of the list of illnesses sweeping the campus this winter. "I have seen a lot of strep, although I wouldn't call it an epidemic," says college nurse Kathy Welch-Krause. "As with any contagious disease, there are peaks and valleys.
Two new assistant deans have been walking the Ripon College campus for the last several weeks. However, many students would already recognize them. Professor of Communication Jody Roy and Professor of Educational Studies Jeanne Williams will now be functioning on campus as assistant deans of the faculty.
The Feb. 28 meeting started with treasurer sophomore Dustin Zuelke reporting that the old computers that student organizations have will be donated to charity. Since the new computers came there is not a need to have both and this way others can get use out of them too.
