Seniors host final art showThe senior art show, which will open this friday at 7 p.m. in the lobby of the Rodman Center, will be a culmination of a semester-long creative process and the students' collegiate experience as art majors at Ripon College. Works using a variety of different mediums will be showcased including Sydney Steiger's project, which consists of a walking labyrinth in the Ceresco Prairie.



Volunteer on Arbor Day

The Office of Community Engagement is coordinating a volunteer trip to the Paine Art Center and Gardens in Oshkosh tomorrow from 8 a.m.-2 p.m. The Paine is throwing its annual Arbor Day Celebration to help local fourth grade students become more environmentally conscious. Volunteers are needed to help with the day's activities which include, trees are terrific, tree identity walk, paper making and sawing. Transportation will be provided. Cinemaniacs film festival

Cinemaniacs will host the biggest film festival in Wisconsin this Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m. in Bear Auditorium. Entries are judged and awarded cash prizes. Different categories include best picture and best actor/actress. All are welcomed to come and watch these independent films, so come at your own risk. Refreshments will be provided.



Go green, pot plants with SMAC

In recognition of Arbor Day and in honor of this year's Springfest theme, 'Go Green' SMAC Mini-Courses and the Springfest committee are co-hosting an activity tomorrow at 4 p.m. on the union lawn where students can learn about transplanting, maintaining and planting plants. Everyone who participates in the event will get to take home a potted plant. If there is unfavorable weather, the activity will be relocated to Todd Wehr 105.



Eat pancakes to starve babies

The Office of Community Engagement will be serving a late night breakfast Tuesday, May 5 from 10 p.m.-midnight in order to raise money for the March of Dimes, an organization that is dedicated to reducing infant mortality, premature births, and birth defects. For the price of $5 pancakes, sausage, fruit, and beverage will be delivered directly to students' rooms. Orders can be placed in advance by calling (920) 362-9058.



Commencement 2009

This year's commencement, which bears the theme 'Damnocracy and the Presidency' will take place at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, May 16 on the union lawn. The commencement speaker and honorary degree recipient will be Robert Sean Wilentz, professor of history at Princeton University. Congressional representative Gwendolynne Moore will be this year's honorary degree recipient. Robin Tessereau will be given the Distinguished Educator Award.
