The Ripon College track teams made quite an impression at the Private College Invitational, hosted by Carthage College, in Kenosha, Wis., this past Saturday.

The women took second out of six teams at the meet scoring 139 points. Finishing first was host Carthage College with 247 points. The men finished fourth out of eight teams scoring 58 points. Winning the men's division was host school Carthage.

Leading the women was first year athlete Heidi Heberlein, who racked up a lot of points for the Red Hawks winning the 400m run and taking two thirds in the 55m sprint and the high jump. Also earning first place points was the 4x400m relay team of Heberlein, junior Jen Millen, sophomore Latasha Carter, and sophomore Jolene Rueden.

Erin Courtney, sophomore, also put forth a stellar effort for the women finishing second in both the shot put, and weight throw, while others scoring major points for the Red Hawks were Millen scoring second in the triple jump and fourth in the long jump, while first year Stephanie Sommer scored second place in the high jump.

On the men's side of the action, the Red Hawks were led by first place finishes by seniors Dave Billings, in the 5000m, and Jacob Banks in the triple jump. Senior captain Nate Reblin scored some valuable points taking third in the weight throw, and fourth in the shot put.

"Both teams work very hard, and we try not to push them too hard during indoor workouts, so most of the great results during the indoor season are a reflection of the athletes' off-season work and god given talent," says Head Coach Robert Duley.

The teams will have two meets in the next two weeks at UW-Oshkosh, Jan. 28 and Feb. 5
