Extrava-game-za, an event sponsored by Residence Life, will turn Great Hall into the set of Ripon College's very own game show Friday, Feb. 24 beginning at 7 p.m.

This is the first time Extrava-game-za has come to campus, though there was a similar event held last year, involving only the Price is Right game show, which drew in only about 70 or 80 students.

"This year we're expanding it to also include Family Feud so we can get more people involved," says Scott Hall Director Julie Waldvogel who's spearheading the event along with 15 residence assistants.

The event should last about an hour and a half, 45 minutes for each game.

Family Feud is the first game of the night. There will be two rounds with prizes for the winning "family" of each round.

Just as on the show, the answers for the game will come from a survey.

"We had an on-campus email survey and got a lot of responses back," says Waldvogel, adding, "We needed to get one hundred responses, and we had well over that the first day."

The answers from the survey will be polled and used in the game, giving it a real feel for student voices.

Price Is Right will be the second game played. There will be four pricing games and then two showcase showdowns at the end. During the showcases people will compete for package prizes, just as they would on the actual show.

As for participation, the Price Is Right will depend on individual names drawn at the event.

However, since Family Feud requires group participation, there will be teams drawn to play. You can register with your team in the Commons during the week prior to the event.

There will be plenty of chances to win the many exciting prizes. There are showcase prizes for Price Is Right, door prizes during the event and more.

"I don't even know what the prizes are yet, but it's going to be some awesome stuff," says Waldvogel. "Last year there was a 'Redo Your Room' package and a 'Ripon Date' package."

The packages are cleverly organized. "There are themes for them, like movie night or game night," says Jackie Laffitte, a sophomore Resident Assistant.

As for the game show host, "We're still deciding. Right now it's between Josh De War and Chris Ogle," Laffitte says.

The organizers hope that everyone will 'Come on down!' to be the next contestant.
