The Lady Red Hawks were unable to carry the momentum with them after winning their first conference game of the season, dropping two consecutive games this past weekend.
The Ripon ladies claimed their first MWC victory against Lawrence a week early, however, that didn't prevent them from succumbing to the 21st ranked team in the nation, in that of Lake Forest by the score of 57-45.
The Hawks showed their resilience in the defeat, coming back from double digits on a few occasions, but the power of the Foresters proved to be too much in the end.
Sunday produced the same result as Ripon was defeated 60-46. The Red Hawks were torn apart by the shooting of four individuals in the game against the Monmouth Fighting Scots.
All 60 of Monmouth's points came from those individuals as they shot 54% from the field.
Ripon, on the other hand, had ten different people get in the scoring column, but struggled from the field shooting a dismal 38% from the floor.
The scoring woes of late were not evident in the team's first game in the South Padre Island Shootout in Texas, when the team erupted for their second highest point output of the season in a 67-45 victory over Centenary College (N.J.).
Like most games this season the Red Hawks used a team effort to accumulate their points as 12 different Hawks tallied points in the game, with not even one scoring in double digits.
The confidence gained from a dominating performance did not translate into the South Padre Shootout Championship. The tables were turned as Ohio Wesleyan trailed only once in the game and that was with 17 minutes remaining in the first half at 4-2.
From that point on, Ohio Wesleyan would go on to outscore Ripon 57-34 to claim the championship.
Ripon will look to add a couple victories to their MWC record this weekend when they travel to Grinnell this Friday, only to head east to Illinois, for a rematch with nationally ranked Lake Forest on Saturday.
