Ripon College Baseball Update

Heading into this week, the Ripon College Baseball team is near the top of the Midwest Conference.
However, Ripon kicked off its regular season by losing both games of a double-header to nationally ranked UW-Whitewater. The Red Hawks were outscored 33-10 in the two games, while committing seven errors leading to seven unearned runs.
"We're starting to improve our defense, but we just need to keep improving," said pitcher Kurt Roeder, who earned his first win in Ripon's home opener in April. "We had some problems down in Florida with the same type of stuff, but we all have confidence in each other and we're going to keep improving."
Ripon did just that while splitting their next two games with nationally ranked UW-Stevens Point. Ripon committed just one error in their 8-6 victory in the second game of the double header.
"When we play the way we're capable of, we have the potential to beat anyone, but we just need to stay consistent and make plays when we need to," said pitcher Craig Bednarek.
Following that victory, Ripon continued to roll, taking three of their first four conference games, utilizing efficient pitching and timely hitting. Ripon outscored Carroll University 35-22 in their double header. Contributing for the Red Hawks' offense was John Henrickson, Nick Beaman, and Adam Grambow who each had 5 RBIs in the four conference games. Beaman added nine hits and 4 runs, while Henrickson contributed eight hits and three runs in the four games.
